I have concluded that I will be mainly tackling the site according to Building 30 and the office buildings, including the landscaping around it. The final assembly building (on the right) and the paintshop (on the top middle) will be retained as existing, but altered externally through re-cladding methods and small interventions. The diagrams below demonstrate a process of breaking down the site from which areas I could potentially develop, down to the ones which I will consider. The diagrams also include the Cemetery of Consumerism (the central space in which robots organise broken or deposited objects). Although the placement of these are now incorrect, I placed them for illustrative purposes in order to understand the scale of it in context.
Green spaces are key to allowing the scheme to function well as both a workshop space, but also a place to relax and enjoy the surrounding area. The site currently has some existing areas of greenery, however, I believe these areas need to grow even further to truly provide the spaces that I would like. One design consideration I will need to address is the entrance to the site from the residential, and whether a new building form needs to greet those arriving to the site, or if there should be a 'shop front' in terms of the objects being displayed in a manner to attract people to the site.
Below is a diagram illustrating the structural grid of building 30 transferred onto the site. It also has conveyor belt connections between the different buildings on site illustrated. One of the final drawings I will develop will show the connections between the different buildings and how the conveyor belt system will work.
