WEEK 10: Site, Context & Proposal

The chosen site is some of the council-owned land within Hubble Close, Barton. It is an area that is accessible only from Hubble Close, but is also adjacent to a stream and fields on the other side of a fence. There is a possibility of allowing public access through the footpath which is parallel to the stream, however, I believe that for added security purposes and also to keep the site accessible only by the Hubble Close neighbourhood, it would be best to maintain the existing fence perimeter.

The furthest distance one would have to travel within the street to the site from their front door would be approximately 50 metres. The site should be accessible for all residents, and be a space that they also feel is part of their neighbourhood, and not just for those who are next door to the site. I would like to take advantage of the views out to the field when designing the proposal for the building:


I would like to have a circular route within the building, one which forces people to go through the 'public shared space', which would be where items are stored for the whole neighbourhood to gain access to:
